A clean square blank that works as hard as you do. Square blanks are the go-to for coasters, tiered tray decor, kitchen signs, and paint-party projects — the small sizes stack neatly for craft fair sets, and the 12"–16" sizes make a bold wall or shelf sign.

Available in seven sizes from 5" x 5" up to 16" x 16", in your choice of MDF or Baltic birch.

MDF comes in 1/8" or 1/4" thickness. Birch is mostly cut in 1/4", with a few smaller sizes available in 1/8".

MDF (medium density fiberboard) is smooth, lightweight, and takes paint beautifully with no grain showing through. Seal it before any exposure to humidity or moisture — before or after painting is fine. Water exposure may cause it to swell.

Birch plywood is natural wood with visible grain, and it's the easier choice if you want to stain for a natural look. Plywood should also be sealed to protect against moisture and warping.
